This page covers connecting a three-electrode cell to your ECA: cable pinout, physical connection, and the Sensitify fixtures for screen-printed and interdigitated electrodes.
Cable pinout
The three-electrode cable is colour-coded:
- Red. Working electrode.
- Green. Counter electrode.
- Yellow. Reference electrode.

ECA-LP1 ships with a Lemo cable; the other models use a banana cable. Both follow the same colour convention.
Connecting your cell
- Plug the electrode cable into the Cell port on the instrument. The connector is keyed and only fits one way.
- Clip the red lead to the working electrode, the green lead to the counter electrode, and the yellow lead to the reference electrode.
- In Studio, check the Cell indicator before starting a measurement. It shows when all three electrodes are connected.
Sensitify test fixtures
For repeatable measurements with screen-printed or interdigitated electrodes, use the matching fixture instead of clipping to bare leads:
- SPE fixture. Hinged-clamp holder for screen-printed electrodes. A spring-loaded lid keeps the SPE seated on four gold-plated contacts.
- IDE fixture. The same arrangement for interdigitated and thin-film microelectrodes. Spring-pin contacts give a low-resistance, repeatable connection.
Both plug into the electrode cable. See accessories for current pricing and photos.
