Device quickstart

Per-instrument notes: what is different between ECA-LP1, 5M, 500k, and Zero. Power, modes, bandwidth, galvanostat availability.

All four ECA models share Sensitify Studio and a 24-bit ADC. The differences are in modes, power, EIS bandwidth, analog front-end tuning, and intended use.

ECA-LP1

The LP1 covers a ±5 V range at up to 250 mA and requires the bundled USB-C PPS adapter, since the high compliance current exceeds what a standard USB port can supply. It uses the Lemo electrode cable for low noise at fast scan rates. The LP1 is the only ECA model that includes a galvanostat. Full specs are on the product page.

ECA-5M

The 5M covers a ±2 V range at up to 50 mA and is powered directly from the PC's USB port. It uses the banana electrode cable. Among the ECA range, the 5M offers the highest EIS bandwidth (5 MHz) and the lowest current floor (1 pA). It does not include a galvanostat. Full specs are on the product page.

ECA-500k

The 500k covers a ±2 V range at up to 50 mA and is powered directly from the PC's USB port. It uses the banana electrode cable. The instrument shares the precision front-end of the ECA-5M but extends EIS up to 500 kHz at a lower price point. It does not include a galvanostat. Full specs are on the product page.

ECA-Zero

The Zero covers a ±2 V range at up to 50 mA and is powered directly from the PC's USB port. It uses the banana electrode cable. The instrument carries the same 24-bit ADC as the rest of the range but does not include impedance spectroscopy. Full specs are on the product page.

Choosing between them

  • If you need a galvanostat or a ±5 V range, choose the ECA-LP1.
  • If you need EIS above 1 MHz or pA-level current resolution, choose the ECA-5M.
  • If you need EIS up to 500 kHz alongside low-level current measurements, choose the ECA-500k.
  • If you need low-level current measurements without EIS, choose the ECA-Zero.
